As of June 1st, 2025, the UK has officially enforced a nationwide ban on disposable vape devices. Retailers were required to complete final sales by May 31st. Just one week into enforcement, visible structural changes are already unfolding across regulation, retail offerings, and product development priorities.
What We’re Seeing in the Market
Vape Brands
The UK’s MHRA registration system has seen a surge in activity following the ban. In early June alone, over 200 newly registered vaping products were added — the majority being BAR SALTS e-liquids and refillable pod kits, confirming that brands are rapidly shifting resources toward compliant alternatives to disposable devices.
Vape Channels
From Manchester-based wholesalers to major chains and high-street vape shops in London, more than half of stores have cleared disposable SKUs from their shelves. In their place, open pod kits and e-liquids now dominate both display and sales space.
Consumers
End-user behavior is still catching up. Some consumers stockpiled disposables ahead of the ban, and some unregulated channels may still provide access to disposable products, which is why they remain commonly seen on the streets. The response has been somewhat delayed, but momentum is shifting toward refillable systems.
